I came across something really fun for children to do outdoors which is not sports related, its called ART PICNICS 4 KIDS.
It is an exciting outdoors art event for children of
ages 2 - 8 years old. It is a fantastic day out for the
family with young children. Typical Art Picnic is an event of 2 hrs duration that can
accommodate up to 40 children, and includes 3 zones; Painting Zone with
Printmaking station, Crafts Zone and Messy Play Zone.
They operate in London at the moment but I am sure that this idea will spread around in no time.
If you like the idea but live not in London - why not get together with some friends and create an Art Picnic yourself in your garden? The more mess the merrier and who minds when the mess is outdoors?
